Jonno Whitby
As a (mostly) self-taught artist, I am not bound by convention and embrace all types of media. My primary focus is on creating unique and challenging contemporary work by fusing traditional painting techniques with modern photographic processes.
While my only formal training is a course in photography, this has only strengthened my independent approach.

Transforming Lost Souls into the Centre of the Story
These paintings are the result of my years of working with street communities in cities around the world. I have been deeply moved by the resilience and strength of these individuals, and I hope that my paintings will help to shed light on their lives and experiences.
I have chosen to focus on the faces of my subjects, as I believe that they are the most expressive and revealing part of their persona. I have also used vibrant colours and bold brushstrokes to capture the energy and vitality of my subjects.
I hope that these paintings will challenge viewers to see street dwellers in a new light. They are not just statistics or problems to be solved. They are human beings with stories to tell and lives to live. I hope that my paintings will help to humanise street dwellers and make them more visible in our society.
